Waterland

Het water staat hoog, dit is met name zichtbaar als ik de IJssel zie. Bijgaande foto is een bewerking van 3 opnames, die ik vanuit de trein heb gemaakt met mijn smartphone. Ik heb deze 3 opnames aan elkaar geplakt, de lassen weggewerkt en de opnames in elkaar over laten vloeien. Voorts wilde ik de sfeer van de IJssel, die ook de uiterwaarden overstroomt, benadrukken. Ik ervaar de IJssel hier niet langer als een rivier, maar als een uitgestrekt waterlandschap. Ik heb daarom het beeld gemanipuleerd en het formaat aangepast, om zo de enorme oppervlakte van het waterlandschap, zoals ik het ervaar, te benadrukken.

Short film, Wolf and the hidden Key, Pact23.com

It is said that the Key* is broken and that we need to find the Smyth*. It is also said, that the Smith is gone, as in our era, genuine smiths can't be found anymore.
Therefore the question is: 'Is there any hope for humans?'

In the title for this short film I changed the word 'broken' into 'hidden' as to artificially adding hope, which I hope will give us strength to move towards more wisdom and (inner) peace.
This means to realise the inner Smith in the end.

(* The key in 'Witte zwanen-Zwarte zwanen'. This one is very special and therefore Capitalized)

This video is a short art-film about the collective persona (represented by different sub-voices) and the collective unconscious, which is always a theme in fairytales and archetypal material in film and literature. The main character has to overcome different crises, to become whole and mature. At the same time I use humour and theatrical elements to emphasise the incongruity of our personal ego and ego-trips, which in fact most people in western society are hardly aware of, or -in several cases- take too seriously.

As an artist I've always been intrigued by these themes. I work in an experimental way as to find out myself the deeper truth behind the image. I experience a deeper level as more abstract, more energetic and in motion, not fixed so to say. The unconscious consist of different levels too, To me dreamwork and performance-art offer me the opportunity to explore these realms of existence, which abut to cosmic realms and infinity.
I agree with Allan Wallace, Mellie Uyldert and Georg Gurdieff for what they say about 'reality'. There are big differences in personality, vision and approach, so I studied and I am still studying and investigating, not only the outlook of these authors, who show and share great knowledge and understanding, but many, many others, who also share profound knowledge about science and scientific research. Furthermore there's my own skill and experience, so I can speak of a mixture of personal information, research, techniques and sources which give me the opportunity to dive even deeper.

An image has no inherent existence, but is a kind of projection on which we are grasping all the time, in the ego's wish for sturdiness or an ancor. I think that, on a deeper level, we know that we don't have that much or nearly any control. Carl Jung provided the concept of the symbolic attitude, which can help to cut through this apparent firmness of images to find another reality, a certain meaning. I think that's another kind of grasping, but as it is another kind and another level, it can help already to become less fixed.

With this film I'd like to give the possibility or at least invite you to explore and transform patterns of habitual consciousness.

Het Lam Gods, symboliek en kunstbeschouwing

'De aanbidding van het Lam Gods' is een vijftiende-eeuws altaarstuk van de gebroeders Jan en Hubert van Eyck. Het Lam Gods van de broers Van Eyck is in 2018 (meen ik) in haar originele staat teruggebracht en roept blijkbaar nu nog steeds veel reacties op. De kop van het lam is namelijk ooit overgeschilderd en zag er daardoor totaal anders uit dan het origineel. Door deze lagen te verwijderen, verscheen er een kop, die menselijker lijkt te zijn. Dit geldt in ieder geval voor de ogen.  

Op weg naar het voorjaar extra reden om eens goed te kijken naar dit originele lam. 

Ik vind de artikels erover intrigerend, ook omdat ik nu met een module van de Bachelor Cultuurwetenschappen begonnen ben. Inderdaad, ik heb Artez ingeruild voor de Open Universiteit, ik hoop van harte dat ik hier meer kwaliteit, diepgang en niveau zal vinden en ervaren.

Ik heb enig materiaal verzameld over de restauratie en wat dit oproept bij het publiek: het betreft zowel artikels als afbeeldingen: in totaal 3 artikels, waarbij de eerste de meest neutrale versie betreft en verder extra informatie via de 2 andere artikelen. Kortom: meer informatie, meer nuances. Verder enkele foto's van lammetjes, zodat je -wat ik erg belangrijk vind- zelf kunt onderzoeken en vergelijken.Uiteraard ook de afbeelding van het Lam Gods voor en na de restauratie. 

Als je goed kijkt zie je dat de oren van het origineel nog zichtbaar zijn in de versie, die eroverheen geschilderd is.

Het valt mij ook op dat de ogen bij een echt lam meer a.d. zijkant van de kop zitten, de bek en neus daarentegen zijn wel realistisch, zo is mijn indruk. De oren staan in een vreemde verhouding tot de kop, zijn veel kleiner en ook te laag aangezet in vergelijking met een echt lam. De vorm is ook anders dan bij een lammetje. Het doet me denken aan een soort buis, die scheef afgezaagd is en dwars door de kop geplaatst. Zou hier sprake kunnen zijn van extra symboliek?
